Frequently Asked Questions

  • When is my rent due?
    Your rent is due on the day of the month that you rent your unit. We do not prorate. (If you rent a unit on July 15th, your next rent is due on August 15th.)
  • Can I pay my bill online?
    Yes. Payments can be made online through our secure customer portal using a debit card, credit card, or ACH. A 3% convenience fee will be added to all card payments. We still accept checks or cash at our office.
  • What happens if my payment is late?
    We offer a 5-day grace period on all payments. After that, a missed payment notice is sent via email, and a $10 late fee is applied. If payment remains unpaid after 10 days, the unit will be locked and a $20 unlock fee will apply.
  • How do I know what size storage unit I need?
    A 10x20 unit is about the size of a one-car garage. A 10x10 unit fits the contents of a typical bedroom.
  • Are your storage units secure?
    Yes. Our facility is equipped with barbed wire fencing, gated access with keypad entry, and bright LED security lighting.
  • What makes Auburn Self Storage different from other storage facilities in the area?
    We’re a family-owned and operated business since 1987, offering the largest variety of unit sizes, personalized service, and a long-standing reputation in the community. We also offer drive up climate controlled units.
  • Do you have pest control?
    Yes, pest control is part of our ongoing property care.
  • Do I need a lock for my unit?
    Yes. You’ll need to provide a lock for your unit. We have locks available for purchase at our office.
  • Do you require a long-term contract?
    No. All rentals are month-to-month with no long-term commitment required.
  • How much notice do I need to give before moving out?
    We ask for at least 5 days' notice. You can notify us via email, phone, the customer portal, or in person.
  • What types of items should be stored in climate-controlled units?
    These units are best for electronics, wooden furniture, documents, photos, musical instruments, antiques, paintings, and other temperature-sensitive items.
  • Do you offer outdoor parking or storage for vehicles, boats, or RVs?
    We do not offer outdoor storage for vehicles, boats, trailers, or RVs. As a high quality storage facility we do offer enclosed units suitable for storing vehicles or motorcycles. If storing a vehicle or motorcycle, we require placing cardboard or a blanket on the concrete floor first.
  • Am I required to get insurance for my unit?
    Insurance is optional but strongly recommended. Please note that most homeowners or renters insurance policies do not cover items stored off-site.   • Can I change my unit size if I need more or less space?
    Yes. Unit transfers are available based on availability and can be arranged through the office.
  • Do you offer moving supplies or truck rentals?
    We sell disc locks and shackle locks. We do not offer truck rentals.
